Wreck of Temple Hall - Canary Islands

The INS Dakar wreck off Crete is a different kind of dive. Forget the typical Mediterranean sun-drenched reefs, this is a deep, dark adventure, and we absolutely love it for that. She's a T-class submarine, lost in 1968, and her story adds a real weight to the dive. Dropping down, the silence feels heavier here, broken only by your own breath. We’ve found her usually shrouded in a gentle gloom, which only adds to the atmosphere as her massive silhouette slowly emerges from the blue. You can often see the conning tower first, then the huge hull stretching out. Visibility can vary, but even on a slightly murkier day, the sheer scale of the submarine is impressive. Look closely on the hull plates, and you’ll often spot curious loggerhead turtles cruising by, seeming to patrol their sunken territory. This is a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history and a challenging deep exploration over colourful reef fish. It’s not a dive for beginners, but if you’re comfortable with depth and overhead environments, the Dakar offers a truly unique, somber experience that stays with you long after you surface.
