Buceo El Bajón - Canary Islands
The team at Buceo El Bajón are a breath of fresh air, genuinely embodying the spirit of El Hierro. We love that this outfit is run by locals, you feel it in their easygoing approach and the way they know the currents and critters around La Restinga like the back of their hand. They specialise in small group dives, which, let’s be honest, is how diving should be. You’ll choose them if you appreciate a personal touch over a production line, and if you want to soak in the relaxed island vibe both above and below the surface. Our favourite thing about diving with Buceo El Bajón is their deep respect for the marine reserve. They’ll often point out the shy angel sharks tucked into the sand, or a school of barracuda swirling in the blue. We’d suggest chatting with them about the best time to hit El Bajón itself – sometimes the currents bring in the bigger pelagics, like the odd manta or even a whale shark if you’re lucky. They don’t rent gear, so bring your own or plan to sort it elsewhere beforehand. It’s a minor detail for the quality of the experience you get here. These guys offer a slice of authentic El Hierro diving.
