Tenerife Diving Academy - Canary Islands
The team at Tenerife Diving Academy are some of the most genuinely enthusiastic instructors we’ve met on the island. We love that their focus is squarely on small groups, which makes a real difference when you’re learning or just want a relaxed guided dive. You’re never just another number here. They operate right off Abades beach, so you can often walk straight into the water, which is brilliant for those early morning starts when you’re still half-asleep. Our favourite dives with them usually involve exploring the volcanic reef formations just offshore. You’ll find plenty of octopus tucked into crevices, schools of barracuda hanging in the blue, and often a grumpy-looking angel shark settled on the sand. Visibility tends to be reliable, often 20 metres plus, especially outside of the peak summer months. We’d suggest opting for one of their deeper specialty courses if you’ve already got your Open Water, as the volcanic topography here really shines when you can descend a little further. Their instructors have a knack for finding the smaller critters too, like nudibranchs clinging to rocks, so keep an eye on what they point out. For anyone looking to escape the busier dive hubs and dive with a crew who feel like friends, Tenerife Diving Academy is our pick.
