With 140+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - B112 offers some of Scapa Flow, Orkney's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 8-14°C, warmest July, August, September.
The B112 is a good pick for an easier Scapa Flow wreck, sitting upright in a modest 16 metres. She’s a decent size, a destroyer, and though the weather has taken its toll, the general shape is still very much there. You can get a sense of her scale as you swim along the deck, with lots of penetration options into the midships and engine rooms for those with the right training. Keep an eye out for inquisitive conger eels peeking from the shadows and the usual Scapa residents like crabs and plumose anemones carpeting the metalwork. It’s a site that rewards a slow fin, great for a longer bottom time and getting a feel for these historic vessels without the deeper commitment.
