The TRSAT wreck in Scapa Flow offers a different kind of dive, less about the grand scale of the German High Seas Fleet and more about the quiet history of a merchant steamer. Lying at 50 metres, she’s a deeper dive, best suited for those comfortable with technical profiles. We found her to be a compelling exploration, with her hull still largely intact and machinery visible in the holds. Over the decades, plumose anemones have coated the darker corners and various fish, often cod and ling, shelter within her structure. Visibility can be a challenge here, typical for Scapa, but on a good day, the details of her wartime demise are starkly apparent.
