Wreck of Energy - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The Relitto A wreck, found off Albenga, isn’t your typical upright ship, but it's still a standout. This isn't a site for deep penetration, but instead, an archaeological dive that truly connects you to history. What we love about it is the sheer volume of Roman amphorae scattered across the seabed. Think less wreck structure, more a treasure trove of ancient pottery, half-buried in the sand. You'll spend your dive gently finning over the debris field, spotting intact amphorae, shards, and the occasional piece of ship timber. It’s a quiet, contemplative dive, often with good visibility that lets the Mediterranean sun filter through. We've seen fat conger eels peering from the larger pots and common lobsters scuttling between the fragments. The scarlet and sunset cup corals add pops of colour to the ancient clay, a nice contrast. It’s a site for divers who appreciate history as much as marine life, offering a unique glimpse into ancient trade routes.
