Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101727 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The *Gold Crown* isn’t the star of Scapa Flow, but we love it for its quiet charm and easy access. It’s a trawler, sitting upright and mostly intact on the seabed, usually around 12-15 metres, which means decent bottom time and often brighter conditions. We’ve had some cracking dives here when the visibility gods are smiling, light rays piercing the green water, illuminating the bow and stern. You can poke around the wheelhouse, often finding curious butterfish darting between the gauges, and the holds are open, home to plump common sea stars clinging to the bulkheads. It’s not a penetration dive for the thrill-seekers, but it’s a brilliant wreck for newer divers or those who just want to soak in the history without the pressure of strong currents or complex navigation. The *Gold Crown* tells its own, smaller story, a working vessel now part of the Flow's underwater landscape.
