Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101792

Forget your idyllic tropical wreck. This isn't that. We're talking Scapa Flow, so expect cold water, often green, and a serious sense of history weighing down on you. The Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck, known to the locals as just "the Unnamed," is a fantastic example of a smaller, more intimate wreck dive here. It’s not a battleship, but that’s precisely why we love it. You can actually get a real feel for the whole vessel in a single dive. The structure is quite broken up in places, but you'll still find sections of hull plating, scattered machinery, and plenty of pipes to peek into. We’ve seen conger eels tucked into the darker crevices, and the metalwork is completely encrusted with plumose anemones, their white tentacles swaying like ghostly fingers in the surge. Look out for the nudibranchs too; the cold water brings out some surprisingly colourful varieties. Visibility can be a gamble, but when it’s good, the light filtering down through the green water gives everything an ethereal glow. Our tip? Go with an experienced local guide. They'll know the currents and the best ways to approach the wreck for a relaxed exploration, allowing you to really soak in the atmosphere of this often-overlooked Scapa Flow resident.
