Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101813 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

The Hansi, one of Scapa Flow's smaller German fleet wrecks, often gets overlooked for her colossal cousins, but that’s exactly why we love her. She's less intimidating, sitting in a manageable depth, making her a perfect introduction to these incredible historical sites. We’ve found the stern section particularly photogenic, draped in soft corals and anemones, with schools of coalfish often milling about her superstructure. Inside, the holds are open enough for comfortable penetration, revealing the ghostly outlines of her cargo and allowing light to filter through, a truly atmospheric experience. We’d suggest diving her on a slack tide to really appreciate the structure without fighting the current. Look closely and you’ll spot colourful nudibranchs and squat lobsters tucked into the nooks, making her a favourite for macro enthusiasts too.
