Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101827

Scapa Flow. Just the name conjures images of industrial might resting on the seabed. We love the unnamed wrecks here; they often surprise you more than the famous ones. This particular wreck, Canmore 101827, is a prime example. Dropping down, the first thing that hits you is the sheer scale. It’s substantial, more than just a pile of plates. Visibility can be a bit variable, but when it’s good, the light filtering through the Orkney green water onto the corroded steel creates this incredible, muted palette. We’ve found this wreck to be a haven for wolf fish, tucked into crevices and under overhangs. Keep your eyes peeled for their grumpy faces. The wreck itself is quite broken in places, which opens up interesting swim-throughs for careful divers, revealing the internal structure and giving a sense of the vessel’s past. It’s a site for those who appreciate the somber beauty of history underwater and the way marine life reclaims man-made structures. Our favourite part? The quiet. You feel like you’re the first to find it, even though it’s been there for decades. Don't rush this one; take your time to explore the nooks and crannies.
