Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 101944 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

We're going to be straight with you: many of the wrecks in Scapa Flow are iconic, but some of the lesser-known ones, like Canmore 102211, often get overlooked. And that's a shame, because this unnamed vessel, likely a trawler, is a truly charming dive. Dropping down onto her, you'll immediately notice the intact bow rising proudly from the seabed. The stern is more broken up, scattered with plates and machinery, but it’s still very much a wreck, not just debris. We love how she sits, relatively shallow, allowing for a good amount of bottom time to really absorb the atmosphere. You'll often find a decent amount of light penetrating the water, illuminating the rust-coloured metal and the vibrant life clinging to it. Look closely for Devonshire cup corals blooming like tiny orange flowers, and we’ve seen countless common sea stars moving slowly across her hull. The current here is usually manageable, making it an excellent choice for divers who want to explore a true historical artefact without battling fierce flows. It’s not the biggest wreck in Scapa, but it's a wonderfully atmospheric dive, perfect for photographers or anyone who appreciates the quiet dignity of a vessel resting on the seabed.
