Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 102888 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

Scapa Flow is littered with history, but some of our favourite dives are the lesser-known, unnamed wrecks, and Canmore 102888 is a prime example. We love the mystery of these sites. While you won't get the grand scale of the German High Seas Fleet, what you *do* get here is a sense of intimacy with history. Dropping down, the first thing that hits you is the sheer sense of quiet, only the distant thrum of your own regulator. The wreck itself is broken, spread across the seabed, but that just means there’s more to explore – sections of hull, scattered machinery, and plates that hint at its original shape. It’s the smaller details that make this site special. Look closely and you’ll find plump plumose anemones waving like ghostly fingers from every available surface, their white forms stark against the dark metal. Ling often lurk in the shadowed corners, and sometimes, if you’re patient, you might spot a curious common seal darting in for a closer look. This site suits divers who appreciate the quiet contemplation of a historical site rather than a grand tour. We’d suggest a calm day for the best visibility, allowing you to really soak in the atmosphere.
