Wreck of Unnamed Shipwreck - Canmore 196027 - Scapa Flow, Orkney

This unnamed wreck, known as Canmore 196027, is a real Scapa Flow enigma, and frankly, we love a good mystery. It’s not one of the big German battleships, so it often gets overlooked, but that’s precisely why it’s one of our favourites. Dropping down onto it, the visibility often plays tricks on you, making the old metal loom suddenly out of the green, a real heart-thump moment. We’ve spent hours here, meticulously picking through the debris field, trying to piece together its story. You’ll find sections of hull plating, twisted beams, and occasionally, a well-preserved porthole or a ceramic plate, still hinting at the lives once lived aboard. The currents can be playful, swirling around the wreckage, but they also bring in the plankton, so expect to see clouds of squat lobsters clinging to every surface and wrasse darting between the rusty plates. It's a dive that rewards patience and a keen eye, perfect for those who prefer forensic exploration over grand scale. We'd suggest going at slack water; the lack of current really lets you get in amongst the smaller artefacts.
